What is OpenAI Sora? A Neural Network for Video Generation

The company that developed ChatGPT has introduced a new neural network for video generation. Here is Openai Sora…
Sora, from OpenAI, is a neural network capable of generating video based on a text query, marking a breakthrough in the field. It is significantly superior to existing analogues but, at the moment, is not available for testing to everyone. However, Sam Altman presented a visual demonstration, generating videos based on requests from users of the social network X, and you can evaluate the results yourself.
For example, here is the output of a request:
“A bicycle race on the ocean with different animals as athletes riding bicycles with a drone camera view.”
Sora can generate videos up to a minute long while maintaining high visual quality and accuracy in matching the user’s request. The model has a deep understanding of language, allowing it to accurately interpret requests and create convincing characters with vivid emotions. Additionally, Sora can create multiple frames within a single generated video, accurately preserving characters and visual style.
One of the key features of Sora is its ability to generate complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of movement, and precise object and background details. The model understands not only what is asked of it in the text but also how these elements exist in the physical world. This opens up endless possibilities for creating video content, limited only by the user’s imagination.
Despite its impressive capabilities, the current Sora model has limitations. It may have difficulty accurately simulating the physics of a complex scene and may not understand specific examples of cause-and-effect relationships. For instance, a character might take a bite of a cookie, but there might not be a bite mark left on the cookie. Or, as shown in the video above, a spoon might appear in the character’s hand “out of nowhere.” The model may also confuse the spatial details of a query, such as confusing left and right, and may struggle to accurately describe events that occur over time, such as following a specific camera path.
Sora is currently available to red teamers who evaluate critical aspects for risk or harm, as well as select visual artists, designers, and filmmakers. In this way, developers collect feedback and try to prevent possible unethical use.
How OpenAI SORA (neural network for video) Can Help Marketers
- Create Personalized Promotional Videos: With Sora, companies can easily create personalized promotional videos for each audience segment. For example, for sports equipment buyers, a video showing the product in action tailored to their sports preferences could be created.
- Creating Content for Social Networks: Considering the popularity of short videos, such as those in VKontakte stories and other social networks, Sora can become a lifesaver for promotion, especially when used in conjunction with ChatGPT, which excels at creating scripts.
- Prototyping Advertising Concepts: Marketers can use Sora to quickly prototype various advertising concepts and ideas, allowing for a better understanding of which concept is most effective before committing to full-scale production.
- Educational and Instructional Videos: Creating video tutorials on how to use products or services can make them more attractive and understandable to a wider audience, improving the user experience and promoting customer loyalty.

Given how quickly ChatGPT has taken over the market, we can expect a similar rise from Sora. The main condition for this is access to the neural network for everyone. However, the company may make access paid, giving enthusiasts of using neural networks a choice – to pay or use existing options such as Runway or Pika Labs.
